BRC - Re-entry

Post by Cabanasprings » Thu Feb 02, 2006 12:21 pm

Someone at work today asked me this question for which I replied, "I wouldn't but I don't know for sure."

Bob and Jim each buy a ticket and enter BM2006, set up camp and party for two days. Jim pays his $20.00 to exit and drives to Reno where he gives his ticket stub to Suzy who goes back to spend the rest of the week with Bob.

Can she get in with Jim's ticket stub?

I looking for the legal answer not the moral answer.

Thanks

According to the web page where you're given the terms and conditions for buying tickets:

The person whose name the tickets were purchased under must have valid picture identification when showing up at the event to be granted admission. No refunds will be processed for patrons who do not have valid identification and are denied entry.

So if Bob and Jim bought a ticket, only they are allowed entry in the first place. We can assume that I can buy a ticket and give it to someone, but we get into a different situation later when the ticket has been used; see next paragraph.

The ticket has been used by Jim, therefore it is no longer valid for entry of another person. That Jim has left and won't return has no bearing on his prior use of the ticket: it's been torn, therefore, it is no longer valid for another person even as a gift.

Forget driving to Reno. Have Sue meet him in Gerlach or Empire when he gets there on the Green Tortoise, give him the car keys, and get on the bus. She has to be careful what she brings in with her -- she can't look clean, for example, and she can't bring in all her stuff, nor can Jim take out his.

Unfortunately, in this instance the legal and moral answers are the same: no.

The bus isn't the answer, not only do you need a ticket stub, you need the wristband issued at the bus depot inside the event.

I was told that re-entry would be impossible unless I was covered with ceramic tiles.

If that's the case, don't forget your limited window of opportunity.
