I am concerned about the playa dust and my contact lenses...who has this figured out?

Hey michasmile, I wear contacts and wore them the entire time out on the playa last year. I really didn't have any issues. I wear Acuvue 2 disposables, and kept one pair in the whole week. I brought my glasses, and extra pairs of contacts just in case. But on the whole I only had to use rewetting drops in the morning when my eyes were a little dried out. Make sure that you have some good googles when the dust storms start and you should be fine.

Any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Not a Problem for Me.

I was initially concerned about my contacts and sensitive eyes. But with proper lens cleaning/storing, rewetting drops, and goggles in dust storms I was just fine.

Don't forget to bring back-up contacts and glasses too though!

I'm a lens wearer too- Having a sheltered spot in camp to do eye stuff is nice, even if it means crawling into the car. A low-dust zone with a draped sheet, just big enough to crawl in and still see what you're doing, is all you really need. Bring extras of whatever you can. I even bring an antique eyecup to do a quick dust rinse now and then. You might want to consider wearing glasses around camp on light-dust-days to give your irritated eyes a rest.

Never had a problem, I can wear my disposables (Acuvue Advanced) for the whole week, including sleeping in them. But make sure to have plenty of rewetting drops, etc. And a clean place out of the wind if you need to mess with them, my tent was fine, but it zips up well.

I would make sure to rewet a couple of times a day.

But it is a very dusty place, make sure you have good goggles!

Ditto.
1 pair, all week, rewetting drops, never take them out. Back-up pair "just in case". I've never had a problem with the first pair.
