Recycle Bicycles "The Crawler"

Post by Desert Duck » Fri Jun 02, 2006 1:41 pm

Hi, all. I have a project and I'm looking for four BMX bicycles who need better homes. I'm willing to take individuals, this is for a Burningman art vehicle project for Recycle Camp. Please keep me near the top, love y'all.
This is in or near the San Francisco Bay Area.[/b]

Oh, yeah- since we're only using the back ends, they can have front end damage or missing forks.

Hadn't thought of SFPD, that's a good one. I am already checking Craigslist as well as Tribe and other resources. Since I need 4 bikes, and I have to make 2 sets out of them, I figured it would take more than my usual late night mission scavenge to come up with enough to throw out 9 and keep 4.

Keep me in mind the next time you see a garage sale or a pile of junk on the side of the street.

I'll also be getting in touch with my local bikeshops, they often have stuff they can't use but that I could.

I don't know if it applies to your area, but here in Utah there's a couple thrift shops that happily gave my husband their surplus beater bikes. Then again, there's other thrift shops that mumble "liability" and won't let anoyone near their dumpsters.

He's also discovered they need to move old exercise machines, an excellent source of metal tubing and bits and pieces.

Just so you know, US 9th Circuit ruled that garbage in a dupster is public domain. The owner placed it there as refuse with the expectation of giving up any rights to it.

so if the dumpster is withing public access its open season.
