Rest in Peace *Doggy Style*
Though its all the same to me. I don't want to risk any disrespect by making this apart of the human animal "Rest in Peace" thread.
I would also like to dedicate this to My dear sweet Lucy. Lucy passed peacefully yesterday surrounded by a large group of her neighborhood friends and family. She was fifteen yrs old. She was the mother to my 2 boydogs Ricky and Spike. She was a black and white Cocker Spaniel.
Though her heart was gradully failing and she was slowly wasting she was able to maintain her dignity up until the end. She had an amazing ability to bring people togther and sniff out the bad ones. I would not have the neighborhood friends that I have today, because of her. We always met dogs first , then subsequently get introduced, usually at later date, through multiple walks, to their guardians, and only if Lucy approved.
She always had a way of leading us to her favorite places on our walks, such as the lemon tree halfway up the block, and she would not leave until she could select a lemon. She would chew and suck on that lemon for hours. We even found out she was stashing them for later. Then on our Sunday walks we always had to pass the doughnut shop for some glazed holes. This was only Sundays, as Lucy had to maintain her figure thru the rest of the week.
Her skillful and sorrowful begging around the dinner, table would always guarantee her a gourmet meal. She always found a way into your heart, thru lemons , pizza crust , or just a space in bed. Lucy belonged to my best friend and the person whose property I live on. She would often come down the path and scratch on my door to let her in, usually in the morning. I missd her scratching terribly, this morning.
She went peacefully to sleep yesterday at about 4:15 PM.

I think it was Lincoln who said (paraphrase) "I want to go to the heaven that dogs go to"
My cousin Gene just lost his dear cat to a car last week....very tough on everybody. The same lead ball I carried in my heart for "Pippin" I now carry for you Lucy. Dogs are simply the best. They are the best. And I love all dogs. I want to go to their heaven too.

Back in '93, I lost my dear little Morrigan (tabby-tortie cat). I still miss her terribly. She was a good symbiont.
We suffered through an abusive live-in boyfriend together. Back in '91, I got Clive Barker's Imajica and dove into that book. I sequestered myself in the bedroom with her and the book, and she laid there next to the open book, purring the whole time while I read.
When I got up to visit the bathroom, and left the book open, I came back after finishing in there and...not only was she holding the page open, she'd put her paw on the sentence where I left off reading.
Go ahead and tell me that was coincidental! I had a cat that could read!

Lizzie died February 4th 2006
I’d gotten her as a puppy and she was truly a dog kid. She helped me through some really tuff times emotionally, over the years. She helped pick out, my dog Lucy and found my dog Elmo as a puppy in a field. She was leader of the pack, procuring treats, leading the way, keeping the others in line, teaching Elmo the ropes... the other dogs are much more like dogs compared to her, she was a little person in a fur coat. I would announce it was time to go to bed and she would run and grab her favorite toy ( usual a formerly stuffed animal she had methodically taken the stuffing out of ) and carry it up to bed like a little kid with his teddy bear. She’d made the rule that only she could sleep in the bed with Papa, and the other dogs complied. We are still having a hard time adjusting to life without her. I miss her terribly.
I gave the woman who became my wife a 4-month old cat for Xmas in 2004. We never changed his name from his given, Oreo, though I'd wanted to call him Munky, short for Homunculus, 'cause he was always acting like a little man, or a monkey.
He was a shoulder rider, face rubber, and had even won over my older, bitchy kitty to boot, something that other cats had tried and failed. He had more personality than any other cat I've been around, and his affection more than made up for the playfulness that once in a while turned Hyde and left you with a scar.
He had just grown into his full, muscular adult self when kidney disease took him, almost a year ago. My wife, who had initially felt burdened by my gift, opened a credit account to pay for emergency treatment, but it failed. He went from sick to untreatable in a matter of 48 hours or so.
How horrible it is to hold a living creature in your arms, one that you love dearly and expected to love dearly for years, and have to give the nod to the waiting vet. To have him die on your lap, and to have to decide when you've had enough time with his warm, limp body. He was eleven months old.
I cried more for that cat than for any deceased person, which may be a sad state of affairs, and an indicator of how lucky I've been so far with those people I truly love.
We added some of his ashes to the temple burn last year. Never thought I'd miss a cat so much. So, here, I honor him again. Thanks for reading.

Yesterday Lester, our orange tabby made me happy for two reasons:
1: Sitting under the shade with me, all the sudden he just up and rips across the yard, I'd never seen him take off like that. He was the mighty hunter stalking the bird.
2: He almost, but not quite got the bird.
I love to see feline grace in action.
Sorry for your lose Bambi.

Davoid - I know exactly what you are going through which is probably why your story made me cry! My neighbour came round and told me that she saw my cat getting mawled by a dog! I went to her as fast as I could but it was too late she was lying lifeless on the floor all covered in blood, I held my poor baby in my arms and I felt her take that last deepbreath.
I dont care what anyone says, animals are people too and my cat was one of my closest family members and it still upsets me to think about her, she used to sit round my neck while I was on the computer and when she was really happy she would dribble uncontrollably!
Sorry to everyone whos lost someone they love x

I hope she's on Scott's shoulder, preening his mustache.
Parakeets have got to be some of the bravest beings per pound ever. She has spunk and love and sass.
I miss them both.

I have lost some dear friends/ mates (cats). Your stories are bitter sweet. This goes out to my childhood companion, Peter. He was a black and white cat. I got him when I was around 4 or 5. He was hit by a car when i was 8. My neighboor was going to take him into the woods and shoot him. My dad knew how much Peter meant to me and my sister. We actually saw this man take my cat and a rifle into his car. My dad took Peter from him, and went straight to the vet. Days later, my dad brought Peter back to the house; limping but very happy. We traveled a great deal with that cat. Unfortanetly when I was 16 he was killed by a dog that lived across the street.
To Peter....XOX
Love Always
And to Melissa (Peter's girlfriend), KC, Benjamin, and Lacey)

BOOBIES!!!
Here's to all the loving and beautiful hearts that have gone on before us. I have also lost my sweet siamese to a pack of dogs I couldn't save him from. He joins my first siamese, Jake, Tigger (Lab), and my namesake and love of my life, Mojo (Lab).

Larry with Jake, a Japanese bobtail we brought home from Japan (along with his brother Pico, and Keeper cat, and Pace the shiba-inu). Jake passed away in the best fashion, romping with larry, he fellover and died of what was probably a heart attack, age 15. The others have all gone on too, but they were great friends.
