An Ode to Kate

Post by Aneurysm_Man » Thu Sep 07, 2006 12:25 pm

To Kate from Center Camp, who was helping with the Open Mic:

Our paths crossed only briefly, but your effect upon me was no less profound…

Beautiful in mind
Throwing down hip hop poetry indictments on the ineffectiveness of modern activism
Moving the heart with the haunting awe of Italian opera
Perusing free book zines of the fringe intellectual classics
One who not only knows who Ken Kesey is, but lives in his house no less!

Beautiful in body
Bright smile, shining eyes, shaved blonde hair, a tuft of delightful purple spikes adorning your forehead. The lines and curves of your body reminding me of the state one shifts into when figure drawing; where any idea of sex, anxiousness, and judgement all fall away, leaving only a pure contemplative admiration, worshiping the goddess wrought human form with a dusty carbon prayer.

And while I never did come to know you in any more depth, I can only assume you are beautiful in soul as well. And I’m glad to have been touched by your light, the ineffability at the core of your being, and hope is touches other as well.

Know that I offer this to you, not out of an expectation of reciprocation, but as part of a larger effort to bring the joyous gifting ethic from Burning Man to the default world. All I want is for you to know that you are a beautiful person. Enjoy the Pyrite.
"I want to be sincere and passionate, but I also want to have fun and act like a dork."

--Kurt Cobain
