Just think there ought to be some reference, rather than just throwing the question out. I have not seen any talk about this here... my first question was "who the funk is shooter and what are you talking about?" Had to wander around tribe to find out what was going on.

I don't care what the borg says: feather-wearers will NOT be served in Rosie's Bar.
When I ask how many burns, I mean at BRC.

Shooter is a guy who has a chip on his shoulder regarding the BMorg's treatement of DPW workers. The CO wrote:Can we get a little context in this thread?
He staged a small protest at the BM org offices this weekend... watch the video in it's entirety. It's worth it.

Watched the video. The counter-protesters did not impress me. I would hope the org is smarter than to send people like that to represent them, but none of them claimed to be from the org. The protesters had some valid points, but... as has been said on tribe, no one is forcing anyone to work out there. If you don't like your job, quit. $45/day is hardly worth what they are describing. I'm currently being headhunted by a competing company and have told them I won't work for them based on the requirements they want, they have to contract me full time if they want me to meet their conditions. It's called negotiation.

You know, I feel really invested in all this for some reason. I'm not DPW though, and I benefit directly through reduced ticket prices, by having a non-unionized, ill cared for group of employees/volunteers creating the infrastructure for my hobby.Ugly Dougly wrote:Tempest in a teapot, huh? Great way to start the new year!
But... my parents. They were school teachers in a conservative Republican district. I remember standing on the picket line with them as their union picketed the school district. I remember my parents always telling me how in their district many of the teachers wouldn't join the union on the picket line because "of the children" that would have to go a few days without a teacher. That this weakened their overall bargaining position with the district. I remember how my mother, the union rep for her school, would stand strong for all those teachers who wouldn't even stand up for themselves.
For me the lack of respect shown by the counter protesters towards Shooter may as well have been directed at my parents when they stood on their picket line. That's why I feel so invested in this I'm sure. I cannot even imagine what would posses somebody to be so disrespectful of somebody else fighting for the rights of others. It left me truly and honestly let down.

BTW, I'm fairly sure that the BRC LLC did not instruct people to go outside. (Although I'd still like to actually read that from one of the people involved in the anti-protest protest group. So far I've only heard it from org people not involved in the anti-protest protest.)MoisturePup wrote: It left me truly and honestly let down.
