1v PVC/rope pentagon dome plans?

Post by kukulcan » Sat Jul 07, 2007 9:13 am

surely some kind individual could link me to some plans for this kind of dome? with their sheer ubiquity on the playa, surely SOMEONE has them!

- single frequency
- made solely from PVC with drilled holes and uses rope with knots to bind at the vertices

anyone know of what i speak? i already have a 16ft diameter 2v dome but i wanted to expand and have some auxiliary areas to use as chill space/storage for our camp.

thank you in advance :)

GeometryDome is where the method of using only rope is displayed. You have to click the arrow on the page once or twice. Personally I prefer at least a 2v but if all you need is a shed/storage have you considered using wood and burning it at weeks end?

what about geometry camp?

I remember reading about geometry camp somewhere... I believe on the geometrydome site. Does this camp still exist?

I'm torn between the geometry dome idea and the U shaped pvc idea... where you are basically just making a big U out of 2 connected pieces of smaller diameter, more flexible pvc...

Hola!
We've made these domes every year. The work fine, and are endlessly adaptable.
2" PVC makes a stiff dome.
1 1/2 " PVC is doable.
Secure them to the playa! Right after they go up! Last year we were beat after errecting them, and rode off in a playa haze to have fun. Calm air not a hint of breeze. We came back and they were blown all over the place. They'd rolled like huge tinker toy globes.
