food gifting
newbie question: I read something about food gifts have to go through dept. of health check or something. I just have a lot of pre-packaged (factory sealed) snacks I want to use as gifts (i.e. kool pops, cracker-jacks, budweiser, etc.) I don't have to get this stuff approved, do I?
I'm not burnt, just lightly toasted.

If you're giving it out to friends, no, you don't need one for that. If you set up a booth with a big sign and form a line of people waiting to get your treats, you probably should follow the rules, though I'm not sure how strict they actually are.
From your description, you'll just be giving thing out like you might to co-workers or friends.

Also it doesn't sound like you're prepping food as gifts, just giving out snacks. The Health Department thing is for more restauranty situations. AMPM mini market doesn't have to get a cooking licence. (Well they have those hotdogs sometimes, but that's not food.)
