Temple Burn Video

Post by diane o'thirst » Sat Sep 08, 2007 1:14 am

Found this on YouTube:

The video made me cry and wish I'd gone in spite of it all. I spent Sunday sitting at home, thinking, "The Temple is probably burning now." "The Temple is probably burnt by now." Thinking about forgiveness, mostly asking for it, and asking myself what it takes to forgive — and what forgiveness is.

Faugh! Enough o' dat. I kept visualizing Nothing-to-Prove walking around the Temple during the daytime, and her silhouette against the flames, at the back of the crowd, in the video.

Glad to see Grady's gamelan was there again. Even happier to see how quiet and respectful the crowd was this year. That guy who yelled, "Hey, shut up! You're ruining my spiritual experience!" was a crack-up. I laughed along with the crowd.

Also loved the guy who shouted, "I love you, Dad!" when the Temple started to burn.

All in all, a beautiful Burn, and an even better video.

So! I wasn't there. I wish I could have been there. The video was good, but it wasn't the Temple. You can't compress the Temple and its burn into ten minutes of YouTube. Please, describe your Temple Burn and tell me about the Temple. Make it alive for me, and for the rest of us who couldn't go.
