playa choir is ON!

Post by mamasaid » Fri Jun 06, 2008 8:58 am

Ever wanted to be in a choir out at burning man?

Looking for a grounding experience?

Love to sing in the shower, but since there are none out there, need a place to sing?

Well, it's Madi here. And this will be year 4 for this choir that comes together every year. I am a choir dork extraordinaire and I direct this ensemble of amazing singers! Here is the jist of how it goes:

We rehearse wed, thurs, fri, and sat of burning man week, usually at about 10:30 am til about 12. We learn about 4 songs, usually in 2-4 part harmony. On sunday morning, we give this music out in the form of a Sunday Service. I don't like to use the word "Church", but in a way, that's what it is. We sing, there are testimonies, there is a sermon, usually a sacred sacrament of whatever is still decent and edible by sunday...And then we hug, exchange phone/emails and go home!

Last year, we sang at some of the choir members wedding, all sorts of cool things happen in this choir.

You don't need to have any experience, just a desire to sing. Of course, we love having choral-experienced singers too. Whatever you are, you are invited to come sing with us.

SO, I do NOT know yet where we will be placed on the playa, but it's likely somewhere around 7:30/8ish and 3 or 4 streets back from the esplanade.

If you are interested, give me a shout and introduce yourself! I can be reached either by replying to eplaya, or my personal email:
