scotchlite reflective material

Post by Halcyond » Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:36 pm

I found an unexpected source of scotchlite reflective material (the stuff they use to make all the road signs). He sells this material for $1.00 a square foot. He normally sells on e-bay with # Feedback rating: 327,# Positive Feedback: 100%, though he does not have any listed at this time. I told him that there may be a lot of you interested and that I was going to post. If you would like to talk with him about getting scotchlite, pm me and I will hook you up. He has scotchlite in blue, green, orange, and white.

We personally are using it on the kid’s coats along with el-wire for nighttime visibility.

Which material exactly is it?
The diamondstripe used on the side of trucks is dramatically more effective than the lower end material.
I used diamondstripe on my bike and it overwhelmed the other reflective material even though it was not aligned as designed ( it is made for horizontal or vertical).
The good stuff is still bright after years of sun exposure and the light stuff has faded to white.
I have a source for the material in continuous color strips.
It is sometimes available cheaper in very large purchases.
Be aware the adhesive has a shelf life.
The reflective material is probably unaffected.

Diamondstripe is very stiff and has focused reflection, unlike the wide angle material.
