Let me get you right, so please correct me if I dont.

How does Emily crave this? I dont see it, never have - so please give me examples or I will be inclined to think this is another sociopathic rant. She mostly works behind the scenes doing work that never gets noticed or even heard of, that does not 'fit' into your description. She has done this for years with little to no recognition or reward.

Or maybe you are referring to someone else... are other volunteers keeping people from contributing to this site? Who? And how are they doing this?
My whole thought when I rad Cap'n F's diatribe was... um...

Please pass that this way, I want to smoke some, too.

There's really an untold story somewhere in his post (note the biarre underlining and formatting) but I really am not into figuring it all out, instead concentrating on other things.

At least they're trying to get in the giving spirit by offering cheap stuff. (Sorry, I couldn't resist that)

I wonder when they're going to stop creating accounts and start using them even more than we're seeing now? It's getting ridiculous.

Sometimes he brings up valid points, and on a personal level (outside of being a mod) I value his perspective. Unfortunatley I think he is way off on Emily, but I am always willing to listen to what people have to say.

He is right about the board being stale.

I have him plonked and have for a long time. (every once in a while someone refers to him by initial and I get paranoid.)

I suppose it is stale. I do my little cheer leader routine and try and get things going, but membership never recovered from that downturn after the upgrade.

Of course, maybe I'm driving them off...

Why even bother engaging the unwiped ass that Fuckwit has revealed himself to be?

Talk about taking the bait. I'm surprised at you Spectab.

The parade of potential trouble keeps on rolling along, here's the latest possibly troublesome eplayan (it follows the classic pattern) for the case studies file.

Try the girlscout uniform next time.

I think about the whole stale thing a lot. I miss how this place used to push my boundaries in what I think about and how I see things. Yeah, I also used to get my buttons pushed as did many others, but I think that in my case it was a nessasary step twords... well ... I was going to say growth, but I am starting to think its just a more banal state of freakdom.

I wonder if conflict has anything to do with it? If it does, then moderators may actually have a negative effect.

I don't know. I think it's partly that we've lost so many interesting people. Disagreements about things and the airing of different experiences are good for us, but some of it is squelching if it gets to ahem... lively...A lot of us will go shy and say nothing when it gets ugly. I think that a largish group of creative and interesting and commited people is the best way.

Um, the moths got to the girl scout uniform. I'm going to have to go with the Jeannie outfit. Sorry about the belly.

Russian Spam, new thread, the wormhole doesn't work.

So....how many spam messages does an account need to have anymore for the admins to block it?

Blatant commercial SPAM.

http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 887#195887

The author of that thread has one other post that is almost identical. Both are clear cut spam posts. Nobody it seems can stop the Russian problem but this is another story.

edit: Nevermind...the admin account flashed on screen and zap, the offending thread is no more. Thanks.

It's not the conflict, it's the nature of moderation itself, seems to me. But I've made the point before and won't bother everyone by making it other to say that I agree with the staleness point and think the good spectabillis is on to something above.

Um... Sorry to bug ya, I know it's not a huge thing yet, but some of these posts, this guy is starting to scare a few of us out there. To wit:

http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=12022

Maybe someone ought to start looking in on this person's posts a it? It may have started out minor, but the threats, intimidation, and offensiveness is bothering not just a few of us women out here.

Plus it's starting to maybe broach not just the TOS but legal grounds as well?

I want to make a formal request of the admins to take a look at the account with the name "Diplom". His latest post got flushed out of public view thanks to the wormholes...but if you search by author and look at all of his posts you'll find 16 pure commerce postings. If this isn't actionable I don't know what is. With that many posts it should be grounds for a warning, if one's been issued it's evidence enough to support an account suspension, IMHO.

I took a look at all of the posts in Bablefish to make sure I didn't overlook any potentially legitimate posts...I couldn't find anything that remotely qualified.

Thanks
