burners in japan/SE Asia?

Post by tuktuk » Mon Oct 06, 2008 2:54 pm

well hello there.

after building the temple this year i figured it might be nice to go see some wats and stupas that have been made with the intention of lasting more than a week (not that ours didn't take a while to burn down!). so i am off to japan/thailand/cambodia/laos/vietnam to take a break from 8 months of burning man and pay some tribute to the ancient temple structures that have informed our designs over the last couple years (tasseograph and basura sagrada). please give me a shout if you are located in any of these places, or recommendations for things to see, eat, drink, and/or ingest that should not be missed.

and thanks for loving the temple. it means a lot to read your comments.

Nagasaki, Japan here. Aside from all the a-bomb related stuff, there are quite a few old temples and shrines here. The emperor had one built 400 years ago to combat the spread of Christianity, so there is a huge shrine in the city as well.
