Another virgin...

Post by geospyder » Tue Mar 24, 2009 9:49 pm

...wait, how can that be? I have two kids and four grandkids but that's another story something to do with the 60's. Each year I see all the Burners coming and going through town - Sparks. This is the year I join the parade. Just discovered this forum tonight.

It's official - just ordered my ticket a few minutes ago. Will be going with a small group of seven. Four have been before. Now I have to start my list. Already have a beater bike and glue gun. Who knows what it will look like when I get through.

You had things falling off your "treasure chest"? My don't we have a high opinion of ourselves! Why don't you use crazy glue to attach the rhinestones to your boobs?

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome home Geospyder. You'll have fun fixing up your bike for the burn, just make sure it's mechanically sound. Look for the thread Poop on Goop, there are some that swear upon their grandma's grave that it is the adhesive of the dogs for the burn :D

What made you finally decide to jump into the parade?
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Welcome geospyder. I assume that when you have seen burners on the way home that you noticed the dust. It is a wonderful thing once you accept it. It tastes good on bacon too. Bring sunscreen.

As a virgin I won't know unless I ask. I'm walking/biking and spot a cool camp with a bar, activity, etc. What does one do to join in? Just walk on in uninvited? Stand outside and look like you're ready to cry if not invited in? Jump up and down and say here I am? Is there some protocol, even if unwritten, to being invited to join in the activities?

Yes and No - there are obvious camps and venues that ae open to the general public, but even these will have private events for campmates or other groups only.

Its real simple to figure out - just walk up, if its private you will be informed then. No one is going to scream at you or throw things at you.

I just say "No worries" and walk on - there are literally hundreds of gatherings you can walk into any given evening.
