San Jose, CA Wanted to go to Burning man :(

Post by AndyWear » Sat May 09, 2009 10:03 pm

Well I'm Andy from San Jose, CA. I'm 27 years old and a graduate student working 2 measly jobs everyday. My first time hearing about Burning Man was from my teacher for 3D modeling class. First day of class he was showing us nothing but burning man slide slows.lol what a waste of time I thought.

Fast forward a year later. My friend went to Burning man and thought it was awesome, but he didn't really explain to me what it was exactly. Saw some crazy videos on youtube. You people are crazy. ;)

Anyhow, I have never done anything exciting in my life, I've never really experienced anything great in life and maybe this is something I'd like to look into. Break free from tradition and maybe get so passed out in the desert that people would carry me around in a stretcher and toss me into some imaginary pool(saw a picture of that somewhere on this site). I'm also kind of scared to drive into the desert. Sounds kinda dangerous!

Anyhow, I figured it was something that would be under a hundred bucks to go to but low and behold, its over 300 dollars! I can't afford it so it looks like I'll be missing out this year. :(

So yeah am I right or am I wrong about the pricing? Well I'm off now and hope to learn more about Burning Man soon.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

JK

Oh and $300.00 is just for the ticket. Then there are a few other little expenses like food, shelter, camping equipment, water, costumes (optional), gas...

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Yes, but that ticket pays for a lot for one week, the med tent, porto-potties, the city infrastructure, dust abatement, the BLM fees and permit.

You could put in for a low income or scholarship ticket, but the deadline for applications is May 30. Check the main site ticket page for details.
