there is an iphone app for it, except you cant get service out there on ATT/Cingular past nixon or so.

conundrum, but not a hurdle thats impossible to overcome.

i like to play spin the playa, go to the man....spin around and around until it feels "right" then go straight....

works every time.

Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro. Duh. Wait, you mean there are actually other theme camps out there as well? Huh, I'll be damned.

Sorry, I was not specific enough. You may find all of the registered villages and theme camps listed on this website, not eplaya. The lists are here:

http://burningman.com/themecamps/09_cam ... umber.html

The locations of each have not been published yet. Most camps and villages amend their calendar descriptions once they get their locations. Some prefer to remain hidden to curb the yahoo/ fratboy factor.

Last year some kind soul put out a directory listing camp names and locations, and put it out on eplaya forum in a nice graph form by street.

At the gate you will be given a map. You will also get a who, what, where, when guide. I hope this year that camp locations will be given within the guide. A separate location guide was all but useless, because of need to cross-reference separate documents.

You will do what most of us do, ride your bike through the dust and discover strange bizarro whacked-out shit completely by accident, then forgot where you saw it, and finally make it back to your camp and bellow, "Guys! You wouldn't believe it! You gotta see it! Some bizarre weirdos are burning shit and fucking shit up! It's over by the blue tent...."

Live with it. It is the playa way.

last year i was like a rabid squirrel running through the playa....i could stay in one spot and chill because i kept feeling like i was missing something LOL...but your right no matter the planning the best places are places hidden and i understand why completely. I found one place (didnt know the name) spent 2 nights trying to find it again.
I hope since this year will be 2nd i will calm down a little :D

Why don't you open a playa tourist agency, find out where all the camps are and help people find them? Instead of complaining and worrying, I mean.

finding a camp - help for newbees

Post by dekelgolan » Sun Jun 21, 2009 2:13 am

So how does one find a camp in the first place? Is that just by driving around and joining a place that feels right? is there any specific etiquette for that?

yes, bring lots of cocaine....GOOD cocaine, and most camps will set your ass right up, no questions asked.

Themecamps are marked on the map, they are *most likely* fully staffed pre-playa.
Anywhere else is open camping; find a likely spot, chat up the folks already camped around, if it seems like a match-you're there.

im still a n00b but my suggestion is come dressed to impress. Meaning creative costuming is creating a vibe people want to talk to.

i went last year NOT costumed and lets just say lesson learned :D

cocaine simon really??

thats expensive a whole camps worth

believe me panda, there is simply not enough good cocaine in the entire state of Ohio for even HALF of the needs of the motherfuckers out there.

they make george Clinton look like a tee-totaler.

Dont Fret, it's not your fault honey, you can take the girl out of Ohio, but you cant take the ohio out of the girl, not without surgery at least.

i suggest you move someplace cool, and trendy, like Des Moines.

i ONLY have eyes for my girlfriend, and do not participate in any swappage, or groupage gropage or anything of the sort, so you'll have to look elsewhere for self-affirmation and/or sex. You could be beautiful, but quite frankly, i wouldn't notice, nor do i lust in my heart, as Jimmy carter would say. I'm too old for that shit.

sorry, homey just dont play that.

I thought your avitar was Van Gogh, but as I look closer, the mustache with turned up ends, I think it might have been painted by Van Gogh, but it isn't one of his self portraits, is it?

Hey Charlie, where did you get that Don Quixote art? Or was that off the LaBianca walls?
