Check out tribe.net if you want to find Burner regionals in Southern California. The San Diego Decompression is a great one to go to, since it's a three day camp-out in the Anza-Borrego Desert, while the L.A. and S.F. Decoms are generally one-day affairs. When I went in 2007, I ended up off-roading in a limousine that was dragging a lounge chair tied to the bumper upon which you could sit. Absolutely nuts.

Also, Fuente Eterno is a five day that happens in a canyon oasis in Mexico every March. Some of my friends actually prefer it over Burning Man! On a similar note, every April there is Alma Paradiso on Catalina Island, which I have never been to but am seriously planning on this year. Both Fuente and Alma are rare among regionals in that they are specifically located in absolute paradise, making for a damn good time.

Keep an eye out. Southern California is a VERY active area for Burners, and there is never a shortage of events. And if you're ever down in San Diego, let me know!
