Newb from CT

Post by Zebulanna » Wed Nov 18, 2009 11:49 am

Like Scurdog in the Oh no, another newb thread a couple below this one, I too am facing personal difficulties. My husband wants a divorce (nothing official yet but I am expecting it any day now) and my life as I know it is about to get tossed upside down. I have no idea where I will be next year. I could be married or divorced, I could be in CT or TX or somewhere else for school. I honestly have no idea what the future holds for me at this moment but looking at pictures of Spiral Jetty made me think of things I want to see and do and Burning Man came to mind. I currently have no idea how I will get there or if I can even afford to do so but I am strongly interested in trying to make it happen.

Divorces are tricky, but you are right, it is an opporturnity to do the things you didn't do as a couple. Just be careful with your vulnerability. The best freedom is the freedom that doesn't tear you apart from the inside. I barely know what I'm saying so don't worry about trying to make sense of it.

We have some people from New Hampshire and Massachusetts who are part of Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro (well, Barbie Death Village now, but that more of a matter of semantics, but I digress) and if you need a wing to be held under, maybe you should think about our little slice of paradise on the playa.

Oh, I'm Doc. And not everybody thinks I'm a dick.

Welcome! I am also a virgin BM follower. Go for it and commit to go. Husband or no husband. Look through your house and start selling his stuff on craigslist :) KIDDING. I have never gone but am going nxt year and these people are great. PS: Doc isnt a dick. He is a sweetheart like most everyone here. My life revolves around bm now. Make yourself fulfilled. But... if there is a chance you want to make it work, then go for it and good luck :) Make sure your partner is your best friend. It took me 3 times but you know what they say, 3 times is a charm!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I have been going over the site and every guide I can possibly find. Part of me wants things to work out (okay all of me wants that) and for my husband to come with me on this trip (I have read the relationship guide so I have been warned) but I will not hold me breath on that. Even if we do work out perhaps this is something I just need to do on my own.

As the event gets closer and I can determine if I can actually afford to go (potential divorce and all that jazz) I will start to look at trying to join a theme camp or finding other people from my neck of the woods to camp near.

Winebuff, if I can make it I totally want to meet up with you at some point. Solo ladies and all. I will bring the wine. :)

I have even put together a googlesite to help me prep for the event.

Thanks everyone.
