The Burch Family Needs Your Help!

Post by cosmicsunset » Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:32 pm

My father is a doctor caring for the daughter of a fellow burner. Here's what he wrote about their situation:

"
A Burner Family needs help!

Greg Burch, his father and brothers have been attending BM for over ten years. You may have met them at Sunset Camp or at the Road Block Bar, or may have one of the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of t-shirts they have handed out over the years. Last Spring, Greg's wife, Denise, gave birth prematurely to twin girls. While one did very well, the other, Alexandria ("Allie"), was born with a heart defect, intestinal, kidney and lung problems, and some problems with her spine. She is now home, but needs a ventilator to support her breathing while she awaits surgery on her heart, planned for Summer of 2010. She has had to come back into the hospital several times for intestinal and breathing problems.

Before the girls were born, the Burch's bought a larger home, a home they needed for their soon-to-be five person family, and one they could easily afford on their two salary income. Since the birth, however, Denise has had to stop working to take care of Allie. This has placed a tremendous strain on the family's finances, not only because of the larger house payment, but because of all the co-pays and deductibles they have to pay for Allie's care.

You can read about the family and watch a local news piece about them at:

http://www.kvoa.com/news/tucson-twin-ba ... o-survive/

You will see on the site that two accounts have been set up to handle donations for the family. You can make deposits in person or by mail at any branch of Wells Fargo or M&I banks using the account numbers listed. Please write "Allie Burch" on the memo line.
"

Here is the account and address for the main Wells Fargo branch in Tucson:
Wells Fargo Account # 1966776708
150 North Stone Ave
Tucson, AZ 85701

Please help me help them.

Set up a paypal account and then let us know what it is. Makes it easier.

I got word today that Allie has been having a hard time, which must be pretty stressful for the family. Tonight I'll be seeing some of the central coast burners and am going to take a card for everyone to sign. Are there any other burners out there (individuals or groups) who would also be willing to send cards? I know your support would mean a lot to the family, even though you may not know them beyond our shared experience of Burning Man.

Here is the address for cards:
Family of Allie Burch
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
University Medical Center
1501 N Campbell Avenue
Tucson, AZ 85724

namaste,

Kris
