video sync

Post by stuart » Mon Apr 05, 2004 10:53 am

anyone know the cheapest way to have 3 video sources synced and output? Either by syncing hardware (DVD players, tape players), or via computer output?

did Chai Guy's link answer your question or are you asking about sync out lock from the decks to a computer? In other words syncing the decks with a computer using some kind of time code?

thanks for the link chai, but it did not bear fruit.

I have 3 independant streams of D1 video. They will not be mixed and as a result I do not need to ensure that black burst, etc., is spot on via genlock. What I need is for the 3 streams to be able to play, over their entire program duration (about an hour) without going horribly out of sync (more than 15 frames by the end of program). I know how to do this by throwing a ton of money at the problem (we do it at work all the time). My goal is to solve the issue by NOT throwing a ton of MY money at it.

what i'd do

i'd use three identical cheap-ass DVD players, and use the same remote to start the players at the same time.

is that cheap enough for you?

I'm not sure that would work with D1 decks.
too bad I dont have a D1 myself. I would just master them to DVD here and send them back to you.
