Any good supermarkets for supplies between vegas + reno?
Any good supermarkets for supplies between vegas + reno?
Last time we drove we stopped at walmart or somewhere and their selection of booze was CRAP!
we ended up with far too many cans of shitty miller beer
next time we need to plan better
we will be driving from vegas again, does anyone know of anywhere good to stop along the way for supplies?
also, does anyone know of any good RV stops (where we can clean the RV after burning man) in between Reno + san francisco, last time we found one in sacremento but it was a bit of a lucky find and didnt have great services
Thanks!

Yeah, I just went that way and about the only useful things were gas and a $35 motel room at the casino in Hawthorne. But if you have time to look a bit, there is much to see on that road, ie, hot springs and other wonders.scotto wrote:There is absolutely nothing between Vegas & Interstate 80...440 miles of Kittly Litter, 1/2 horse towns with places to stop for Gas...
Buy your supplies in Vegas/Reno/Fernly...

yeah i remember the drive from vegas to burning man being pretty much just desert with no stores or anything along the way
so going to get booze in vegas (hopefully can find a big liquor store with good selection close to interstate 80)
wont be going as far as reno as will turn off i80 around 20 miles before reno (if my memory serves me correctly!)
Now, to find a place to clean RV in between Black rock city and San Francisco!! Anyone any suggestions? :)

Grocery stores in Nevada are liquor stores too, and often cheaper. Just skip WalMart.
49er truckstop on I-80 just west of Sacremento has a Blue Beacon truckwash. Just past I-5, a pay parking lot, but if you're getting a wash you skip the parking fee. Just google "Blue Beacon", find that one, then call and ask if they do RVs and if you can do your interior cleaning there.

Coming from Vegas, that "cutoff 20 miles from Reno" doesn't save you much, if any time.red arrow wrote:yeah i remember the drive from vegas to burning man being pretty much just desert with no stores or anything along the way

The best bet is to get things in Reno, IMHO. Drive with all your tanks dry to save weight. Likewise on any water purchased in bottles.
With a good shopping list and a decent map/gps you can save a ton of time and money in Reno. I've been in and out of Reno in under an hour with such a plan.

I would just like to say that Miller is not a "shitty" beer. It is a "pissy" beer.

Come find Anti M's Home for Wayward Art in Hushville, pop into the shade structure and if we are home, we will give you a non-shitty, non-pissy beer. We only bring good beer and ales (which I don't drink at all, LOL). We may buy our beer in Utah, but we get it on base, not in the supermarkets where it is 3.2 pisswater.red arrow wrote:theCryptofishist wrote:I would just like to say that Miller is not a "shitty" beer. Well, isn't it best to use liquid to describe liquid and semi-solid/oozy to describe solid? Or am I being a statist again?
