World record attempt questions.
I want to organize an attempt to break a world record, but I don't know how it would work to invite a witness from guinness world records.... would they need a ticket, or since it's for official purposes, could they get a free pass for a few hours? What do I need to know, and what do I need to tell Guinness when I apply with them?
Any help would be great!
Oh, and the record attempt is for "the most people dressed as superman in one place"

Check out the Guiness website for the details. At Burning Man, you may have better luck setting a record if it involved people taking their clothes off, rather than having to bring some sort of clothing to wear. ie, "largest naked tug of war"!

If you invite a judge you need to pay for the ticket and travel costs, so I think you're better off applying in advance and just sending in the photographic evidence (or whatever they require) afterwards.
Does "the most people dressed as superman in one place" include all costume variations and derivatives like Supergirl, Superboy, Superdog, etc?
I'm going with a camp of superheroes, so count us in!

Stringent requirements set by the Guinness World Record Corp
Apparently Guinness is rather picky about what counts as a Superman costume:
The World Record attempt is open to men, women and children wearing a complete Superman costume consisting of a blue bodysuit, red cape, red trunks, red boots (or spats), yellow belt, and the famous red and yellow "S" logo on the chest. The costumes can either be store-bought or home made.

It's from a press release for the 2008 record setting event in Metropolis, Illinois

I also found a few blog posts about how strict the rules were.

Another article on the rules being "a might fussy":

Well, the costume regulations for Guinness are pretty strict, but even if we don't hit the record, it'll still be a fun gathering, there might even be a costume contest so it's not just show up, take a picture, and leave... But the details are still being worked out. We might do a contest for closest resemblance to superman, most creative superman costume, and probably one more category to be determined. Go for a regulation costume or have fun with it, it's up to you.

Phone booth near the man.
I am totally down for this.
I think we need to get someone to bring a phone booth, maybe even the god phone booth and place it near the man (or wherever this cluster of Superman's will be gathering), so myself and others can make there way to the man in their Clark Kent outfit and switch into their Superman Costume, which is underneath in dramatic fashion. Although this might be harder than they made it appear in the movies and show.
Thoughts?
