placement
the placement team are volunteers. The task of processing the huge number of applications and then fitting them into the available space must keep them up for many nights.
I know they do appreciate swag and treats, and lord knows they deserve them, in the end their responsibility is to give priority to those who will be the most interactive. For in a large part it is the it is that makes the festival what it is.
I would not count on an answer until mid July, if it is before that, it is a bonus!
If you planned a nicely interactive group, you will get in.
At least that has been my experience.
All Hail the Placement Volunteers!

All indications are that we won't know until July I just wish they'd give a nod to acceptance before placement if at all possible. We're bringing a large theme camp to the playa for the first time this year and of course we've already started building. If we find out in July that we're not going to get EAT's, it's going to be sad times for our crew. We'll be building well into Wednesday of the event if that happens. Also, my squeeze is taking off school and work and flying in from Sydney a week early for build week. I can't imagine how we'd pass the time being at home that week.
Also, anyone know if my not having my ticket yet is going to jeopardize the application? All of the other camp planners listed in the app have them; I'm just a slacker. Man, I hope that doesn't bump us. Our camp is going to be amazingly interactive.

I really don't think that they look at ticket status of all those in the camp, because it would be a real pain in the ass to cross reference those sets of infomation, especially as names don't go into the questionare, except for the contact.

Camp approval and Placment.
Theme camp leads who have purchased a ticket are taken slightly more seriously than those who have not.
re: Placement announcement. "mid-July"?, "July 1st"? I personally like the flexibility in "early July"
and
They made an error not turning off the unsubscribed messaging when they just purged the list of 2009 subscribers to make way for 2010. 2010 camp leads will be subscribed to Placement-Announce very soon!

I will not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone . . . there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Dude. You just MADE my fucking day. I just got an unsubscribe message, and promptly -freaked- out, going "Oh, maybe this is the early list of people that aren't getting placed, what did I do wrong, omg omg omg". I love you just a little bit.

It meant he was kidding. He doesn't have inside information. (Sorry moose)whaleboy wrote:moose, you seem to have some inside info. So what did that exchange with Nyx mean?
No. Camp approval and Placement will be announced in early July. You will be receiving Placement-Announce emails soon, and throughout the months leading up to the event.whaleboy wrote:They send you an unsubscribe if you're not going to be placed, and don't tell you anything if your camp is still in the running?

The question I have, and I did not believe this warrented a new thread, is when will they begin to list the various theme camps under 2010 Theme Camps on the main BM site? They're still stuck on 2009. You don't need to be placed to be listed. You don't even need to have requested a spot to be listed (though admittedly it helps). It seems to me that by this time in previous years we could begin scouring the theme camps just to see who's new, who's returning, who looks like they might be vaguely interesting. This way people looking for theme camps would have a clue as to who to contact and what might be expected from them
Oh I get the fact that The Hatted One would rather use the resources of the BMOrg perhaps differently, and that hiring a bunch of stoned useless hippies to implement the data would be a maddening ordeal, but still I should think that by now those camps who sent their information in early should begin showing up under 2010.
What say you?

Dr Pyro:
been having similar puzzlements...maybe with last year having a bunch like ~130 camps not being 'approved' that the org/llc wants to review all the applications before they start listing them.
have even tried taking the link to previous year's camps and then modiying it to what the link to 2010 might look like...nope 404 error...

A plan is what you vary from.
