2nd time burner from Bozeman MT

Post by diamondmoth » Thu May 20, 2010 12:02 pm

Hello every one!
You can call me DM, Diamond, diamondmoth, Moth, what every you fancy.

2010 will be my second year and I am so damn excited. I'm trying real hard not to future trip to much so that when its over I don't such a hard time with "separation anxiety"

I love camping and have stayed in the high desert for extended trips but the playa was something else. I was lucky enough to go with a group of friends who were mostly vets so I felt right at home. My first year was amazing. It was so much more then I expected.

Aug 1st my mom passed away after fight cancer for 6 years. For the last 2 I was her full time caretaker and it was very very hard time. I'm 22 so for a large chunk of my life I've been taking care of my mom as best I could. ( also my brother who is mentally Ill ) When she passed my entire life changed. I wasn't reacting to the world around me but now I could make my own choices. Burning Man was perfect transition/ceremony for this huge change.

I grew up in Seattle and after my mom passed I needed to live in beautiful mountains and get away from the city so we moved to Montana, and its CRAZY BEAUTIFUL! But, I have yet to meet any burners out here, maybe I will and maybe I won't. We'll see...

Anyways, HI EVERY ONE ON EPLAYA! How are ya?

Here I am on the way back home.

WELCOME!!

That is very commendable what you did for your mother there DM. It's unfortunate that many kids these days feel they don't owe their parents a thing.
My condolences.

Again, WELCOME!!

I'm beginning to see what you mean around here. Don't get me wrong, Montana is amazing! But so far I've made most my friends at the bar and at my mixed martial arts classes. I haven't met any one that even knows what Buring man is...yet.

Thanks Daddy-O. Someday I'll have kids and if I get sick I bet they would take care of me too.

So, is there still a band called Band Universal and Triumphant in Bozeman?

Currently I am a 'Bozeman-ite'-(MT) and I too have found that Burning Man is a complete mystery to most everyone I meet.

I have heard that there is a group of locals, who meet at one of the downtown bars, that will be camping in the vicinity of '10 & E' this year.

Anyhow...if you are in/near the Bozeman area and would like to 'caravan' to BRC - shoot me a note.

I hope you get a chance to visit the Temple of Rememberance and leave some thoughts for your dear mom. Many people leave notes and photos that will be delivered to their loved ones when the Temple burns. It's always a somber place, but very theraputic.
See you there!

Here's a link for the Montana regional contact. (There actually IS one.) I'm a native Montanan, and while I don't currently live there, I gotta say burners seemed to be few are far between.

Heck, what do you expect in a state where cows outnumber people?
