Darwin Fish Tank - 2010

Post by hammer » Wed May 26, 2010 8:28 am

Hey all,

I woke up more excited about BRC than usual... sooo, I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone who did for stopping in to the Darwin Fish Tank and the giant aluminet Mister Fish at 4:30 and DNA last year! 2009 was our genesis as a theme camp, and we all had a fantastic time serving margaritas, PBR, absinthe, henna and body/shirt painting, and providing a moist and cool (15-20° below ambient!) shaded fish-stomach in which to dance. The fish pond was also a hit, there was always someone swimming in there under the layers of fish pillows. All of that will be repeated this year, with some additional upgrades, including a 17' flaming fire coral tower, a small art car, we may be hosting Leopardy this year(!), Superheroes party, and some martial arts intro classes. Also we've requested placement on B and 3:15(?), since we felt we were all crazy and driven enough to want to be closer to the esplanade and give as much as we can.

As with last year, we'll be hosting a Welcome Home party on Monday night starting at dusk/8pm. See you there!

Nope, I don't know who they are. We weren't really associated with any other camps, although we did have some friends in the Rave'Ns Nest and Martini Village.

SWEET! I was excited to stop by TC last year, but sadly never made it over... it's far too easy to burn a whole week bartending, I'm going to set some limits for myself this year, and will definitely come by the Booby Bar. Oh yeah, since you're close, you'll know when the welcome home party starts when the fireballs start shooting out of the tower :-). This weekend is testing of our second-stage prototype, so we'll see how it goes.

According to people all over the playa last year, we were indeed fun, so I'll have to agree . (it was so exciting to hear people talking about our camp at 9:00 and Esplanade!) Stop by!

We also host (almost) daily happy hours once it gets really hot (noon/1pm), and we crank up the misting system. There's nothing like sitting on a drenched inflatable chair in a cool mist when it's 100° outside - it's hard to leave ;-)....IT'S A TRAP!
