My birthday is Burn night, and I need ideas

Post by Jmarcus » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:03 pm

I've always loved birthdays, and look forward to it each year with nearly the same anticipation I have for Burning man. This year I'm blessed to have these events overlap, and I'd like to use the opportunity to give back to my theme camp and community.

And of course, draw a little attention to myself :)

So I was curious, what sort of gift would be cool for a theme camp? I'm currently leaning towards making about 60 dog tags with our camp name engraved on them (although we don't have a logo yet... and I'm not that artistic).

Otherwise besides getting to ride on the birthday cake car, any ideas how I should live it up? I wish I could distribute ice cream on Saturday, but there's no way for me to keep it cold that long.

And I can't wait for the snark, btw :)

Reverse Birthday Spankings. Instead of you getting them, you give them.

Giant marshmallow?

Post by dewnorth » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:16 pm

One burner's birthday was on burn night last year, and somebody had made her a GIANT, homemade marshmallow. It was as big as a basketball. She kept toasting the outside and everybody picked bits off--toast and eat, repeat. The marshmallow was so big it never seemed to shrink as people ate from it--but not in the "biblical" sense--or was it?

I have no idea who made it, or how.

Her treat was delicious, and a great way for her to interact with lots of people over the embers of The Man.

(I hope she doesn't mind me mentioning her idea.)

Stop by C.R.T.T. for Candy or a Spanking, we'll give you both!

Find a playa choir to sing Happy Birthday in 4 part harmony...

As for ice cream, find one of those ice cream maker balls... I think they sell them at wally world or other department stores... you put the mix in the core of the ball, add ice and salt in the exterior compartment, then get a bunch of friends and play hot potato... presto! Birthday ice cream! No freezer required! Or drive to Empire and buy a case of otter pops...

Happy Birthday to you! Get yourself a party hat and the fun will find you!

Ice Cream maker balls are easily damaged. Much more than you would think for an object your supposed to roll around.

IMHO, th eplastic isn't a high enough grade. Now if they made it from the same material that Dysons are made of (motorcycle helmet grade plastic), it would have been much much better. But even when you pick one up it feels too fragile and it is.

Come to think of it, a quick trip to Whiskey & Whores should set you up for a grand birthday... you'll have the time of your life and won't remember a thing!

Ok. Not all strippers are whores. Most of them just have issues with men. At least in my experience.

I have to say that the idea of making ice cream on the Playa does intrigue me.

I have no problems with either strippers or whores. More power to them all. One of my dearest friends, though not a stripper, is so big a whore that I call her the whole brothel.

Why is everyone missing the obvious?

Pick up a big sheet cake birthday cake from Costco and some ice cream that you could keep frozen with dry ice. Birthday hats, noise makers and pin the tail on the donkey. It could be the kids birthday party you always wanted. If someone is arriving later in the week, they could bring the cake and ice cream!

An alternate to the ice cream ball....

Put the ice cream stuffs into a large ziplock bag. Seal.

Put the large bag into another bag full of ice and salt. Seal.

Wrap the double bagged goodness in newspaper so that it resembles a ball.

Throw this ball around with yer friends for a while. Eventually you get ice cream!

Not MOOP, it's simply called a spill.

it ain't MOOP unless you don't plan to clean it up, and in this situation it STILL wouldn't be MOOP.

Demand a lap dance from all camp mates.

Snorkle your best friend when he passes out under the shade. Video it and post on YouTube.

Go to pancake camp and demand a free breakfast kuz its your birthday.

Hit up every neighborhood bar and demand free drinks.

Make all camp mates drink Jager body shots off of you. Demand you be licked clean so you are not sticky.

I hope no one demands a lap dance from me...

Oh, wait, back to the question.

Awesome to know about the Thursday birthday! One of my best friends is coming this year and it overlaps her birthday, as well. We are all new to the playa, and usually hit up DragonCon for her birthday, so I have been trying to figure out special things to do for her. She is one of the nicest most giving people I have ever met.
