Wind vs. Camp?
Wind vs. Camp?
I've read some posts that suggest facing your tent and shade and even parking your car according to the directions that the sun rises, the wind is most likely to blow, etc. etc., and was wondering if anyone had some insight as to what the best directional setup for my camp would be.
I'm going to be building a monkeyhut and setting my tent up under part of it. I'll also have two cars to use as windbreakers.
I believe I remember reading it's best to set the monkeyhut up facing north/south? Something about letting the winds pass through as opposed to throwing the hut somewhere over the playa.

At our theme camp last year, the prevailing wind was quickly pretty apparent and I wanted to park the vehicles in a line along the upwind perimeter line of our camp. It was along the main thoroughfare, so I let the virgins in my party talk me out of it.
The wind continued to blow most strongly from that quarter, and I daresay that we would have had a more pleasant time if we had erected such a barrier.
The Ranger camp along my street did the same, BTW.
