Camp in the Gay-borhood! Queer camps around 7:30 and D

Whether by quirk of fate or (more likely) design, a good number of gay, gay friendly, queer, "DL", lezzie and downright FAB-U-LOUS camps have been placed in and around 7:30 and D / E.

• Comfort and Joy! ( 7 and D)
• Celestial Bodies 7:30 and D (Serving Playa Cosmos every day, all day)
• Camp Stella 7:30 and D (AA meetings daily + other sober activities)
• Quixotes Cabaret 7:30 and D (Group from London builds a cabaret and organizes daily performances)
• Astro Pups *7:30 and E* (wrestling, parties, all kinds of activities)
• Mudskipper Cafe 7:30 and D (chillout cafe serving rootbeer floats daily)
• Vietnamese Iced Coffee Camp (serving VICC every day)
• Camp Beaverton for Wayward Girls (7:30 and ???)
• Camp Montage (fixed art installations of large montages of the people and things on the playa).
• Paradise Motel 7:30 and E (snow cones and body paint)
• Down Low Club 7:30 and Detroit. ("what happens at Burning Man, stays at Burning Man")
• Lollipop Guild 7:30 and F ( diverse and creative Playa weddings for all )
• Gender Blender 7:30 and D (workshops, yoga, a Gender Role Fashion Show, Drag, blended drinks)

Now if you look at the map you'll see that there is lots of white open space in between the Comfort and Joy village which will be at 7 and D and the grouping of camps around 7:30 and D. Queer folks might consider congregating in that area so spread the word!



I'm also trying to get the word out about decorating the road down D from 7:30 to 7. One idea that keeps popping up is for camps along that corridor to all bring colorful flags that would line the street and end with the big Comfort and Joy flags down at the end of the street:



To make your own:
Use gaffer tape to tape the fabric on pvc then i put them on a tall steal pole ....you can drill ( lg drill bit ) in the playa to put the steal pole in then put the pvc over the steal pole ( the pvc should fit oevr the pole to slide down then you can use tape to keep the pvc from going all the way down the the ground so you have some hight still) it works really well.

It's also been suggested that folks could also do Bear Flags, S/M, radical queer symbols, dyke symbols, more than just the rainbow & pink. (Is there a flag for gay computer nerds?)

It would also be spiffy to put up street signs at the corner of 7 and D / E.

We may be back-to-back with some of your gayborhood and will enjoy getting colorful along with our PINK theme. Yeah we have a few flamingo too. I've been keeping an eye out for vibrant pink, orange and yellow sheets at the thrift stores. Our hope is to gather enough to cover all our anchor ropes and poles.
