I'm considering building a Quonset hut shade structure and have settled on this elegant little design: http://maxicon.com/Burning_Man/PVC_Stru ... _playa.htm
My question is calculating the height of a quonset hut. I've used the basic geometry of a circle to assess the mimumum height of a 20' Quonset semi-circular rib (6.36'). Since the shape is more of a U and the 20' is staked out at 10', which is narrower than a semicircle, I know it will be higher than this but wondering how much higher.
Is anyone using this design and proportions (i.e. using 20 ft worth of PVC to create a 10'f wide quonset hut)? If so, have you measured the height? How high is it? Thanks. Just want to make sure i have clearance for my 6.6' tent....

Drawn in profile with a width at the bottom of 10' and a length of 19'-11 13/16" you'd have a height of 7'-7 1/16"
Thats just sketched out real quick in CAD then measured. Your height would change if you didn't get the legs exactly 10' apart.

Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole
