im a first timer. coming from New York City via San Fran!
traveling in an RV with friends and wondering if i should try to find a camp to join or just land where i land?

Land where you land. Things are tightening up in themecampland and most have settled on their campers for the year. There are some that are still advertizing in the "2010 Theme Camp" section of this board, so you might find a live one. You might want to look into the Orphans Camp that's forming, same place.
