Map of entrance road to BRC - where is it?

Post by geospyder » Tue Aug 17, 2010 11:50 am

I know I've seen it somewhere but can't find it. There was a map showing what Playa entrance we will be taking to BRC. The article had something to do with lowering the dust created when people entered and exited. Anyone know where I can find it?
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

No map for you but you are indeed correct.

The entrance is still the same entrance, but how we wind you as you come into the city is going to be different.

As you left the highway before you went straight and then curved gently left to reach Gate.

Now, you'll come in and as soon as the gravel ends you'll veer left and go along the left edge for a bit then curve to the right to reach Gate.

Some proportions and distances are a bit different but it'll all be coned/staked/flagged so you'll just follow it once you leave the highway like always.

It supposed to be designed to route traffic along existing roadways. Maybe that will help with the dust.
It's going to be alright.

Help me out here...

The prevailing wind, that is the direction from which the wind blows most of the time, is from the southwest. This new road seems to be directly southwest of the encampment area.

Seems to me that the dust is going to blow right into the southwest quadrant of the encampment...as usual.

I am prepared to stand corrected.

Yep, you got it.

Look at the landing strip of the airport. Thats the usual wind direction.

I think the dust abatement is trying to leverage existing roads cut into the playa over many decades of driving real fast. The Playa should be compacted more in these areas.
