I came to stunt and hang and stand on my hands

Post by ScottFromPortland » Wed Sep 08, 2010 1:27 pm

Hello, Black Rock City. I'm Scott, from Portland Oregon. I coach gymnastics and teach circus stunting, and I perform as an with a 7-person acrobatic troupe called Kazum - www.kazum.org. I camped at 4:30 and B at camp Suckie Fuckaye, and I stunted almost every afternoon at Center Camp.

In the evenings I haunted the rave stages with my fellow shadow-man Blake, dressed in black body-suits. We climbed and hung from everything we possibly could. I'd love to see some pictures or video of this, but I've not been able to track any down.

My virgin experience in 2010 was amazing. The playa welcomed us with a gentle washing, followed by a nice cool day of easy relaxation and exploration. Discovering Black Rock City was wonderful and my heart was filled with positivity all week long.

Some of the high points included holding a blind man in a stunt (a Flag) - he was really nervous but he was also very eager and excited. I lifted an older lady whose body had been repeatedly broken - her arms and ankles were knotted and crooked from past injuries, and she was terrified to stand on my shoulders but she did it. I could feel her heart hammering madly, but her face was pure ecstasy. I met a wide variety of incredible people who shared their balance and their trust with me in Center Camp - thank you so much to all of you. I came to Burning Man to stunt, and I wallowed in it.

I am filled with gratitude for my friends and the people I met, as well as all the folks I've not yet gotten a chance to meet. I look forward to future years of integrating our lives and our spirits together out on the magical playa!
