Closest shower after Burning Man?

The drive home after Burning Mans sucks.
You're dirty, you're tired, and cranky that it is over, and a good amount of us have a stupidly long drive ahead of us.

I know 90% of the reason we caved and got a hotel room so soon after the event is because we couldn't wait to get a shower in. The only problem is we had over a two day drive and only budgeted for one hotel stay on the way home.

I know this could have waited if we could have found public shower at some truck stop somewhere beforehand.

So those who are infinitely more experienced in this, do you know the closest/best truck stop shower along I-80 heading back east?

Well, in some years past, there was a shower trailer that was located just before you got to Gerlach, rented out by a local.

If not that, why not just budget for the cheapest hotel room in Sparks? You've got time now to budget in an extra couple hundred bucks or so giving you a buffer of up to three cheapie hotel stays on your way home. Use one in Sparks, the other two as needed.

Finally, there are some RV camping spots (not sure what you take to BM) and you could book a spot for the night leaving in Reno. Check in/pull into your spot and use the showers and then take a long nap. Get on the road refreshed/rejuvenated.

There are two truck stops right there in Fernley on i-80, they both have showers(Luvs is better).

Luvs and Pilot/Flying J in Fernley Showers are about $9, they provide the towels. I've heard mutterings from the employees that they'd rather not sell showers to burners, too dirty, so tidy up after yourself.

Brothels are a good source of free showers, but will turn down a really scummy crew. Best damn free shower I've had in Nevada was at Donna's Ranch in Battle Mountain, but I think they closed/are under a new name. Two shower heads, fluffy towels, and all sorts of foo-foo soaps and shampoos. We tipped heavily.

That's what I was going to say. We use Dr. Bronners Peppermint soap and take showers every 2 -3 days all week.

I took a shower at the truck stop in Reno. The best $10 I spent in September. That first shower after the playa is amazing.

We always rent a room for Monday night in Reno. Shower, gross but filling food & a real bed. It's lovely, and we're rested for the drive back to SF on Tuesday.

Book ahead of time and you can get a good size room in Reno for $50ish bucks on a Monday night, even on the end of a holiday weekend.

Probably cheaper in Sparks or outlying areas.

We do the same thing, but with our timeshare points we get a condo-like suite with two bathrooms, a small kitchen and a washer/dyer. Cheaper than the two rooms it would take to house our camp. Overkill? Yes. I'm not the only burner who does it either, I know of at least three other groups who use the Worldmark.

I'm going to have to do the same thing this year, at least for the good nights sleep... The drive back to LA was a nightmare after getting to reno at 4pm.

We do the same...though we usually get free rooms as Harrah's. They also have one of the best restaurants I've been to, that still has table-side cooking, which has also become a part of our exodus tradition.

Also, since we usually have a 20 foot truck that is impossible to park where we live, we then spend another night at a hotel just outside of Los Angeles and then drive in early in the morning to park and unload.

This gives us the added advantage of two good nights of sleep so that unloading is a whole lot easier.

Closest shower for me is my house...about 100 miles away.

About the only thing worth living here is it's proximity to BRC

Another Worldmark owner checking in but I use the best shower in Sparks - mine.
