Pedicab, anyone?

Post by bullD » Fri Jun 04, 2004 12:17 pm

Pedicab Camp!
I am bringing my pedicab/human powerd weirdness to BM this year to do my part. My participation will simply consist of (among other things) supporting the transportation woes of the many by giving rides to destinations near and far  !
So, is there anybody out there that has a pedicab, or something like a pedicab, that likes the idea of helping our fellow burners for any amount of time each day and night? Pedicab craziness parade perhaps  ? OR WTF, how about some good pedicab anarchy,,, he he he  . No themes here for the pedicabs except that they should represent our own personal whackiness; treatment of riders will also be left to the discretion of the ridee  !
I am most likely going to camp a couple or more streets back from the esplanade and looking for burners to share in perhaps creating an ongoing and improving service for the transportationally challenged  .

Where could I get a pedicab? How much do they cost? I think it could be fun to have one.

Pedicabs are not cheap. Be prepared to spend at least a thousand dollars for a decent one. From there you could spend, like anything else, shiteloads of money. But, there are some on EBAY that sell for around $250 to $300. The catch, they are not assembled and come with no instructions but, everything I have read about these pedicabs has been fairly positive and ALL parts were present for assembly. Check out CRAIGSLIST as well. There are good websites with info as well, like:

http://www.workbike.org/makers/search.p ... mit=search

I had my pedicab shipped from India because for something comparable I would have paid three times as much here in the U.S.

Ooogh! I might be able to save up for one of the EBAY ones, though. Hmmm...., have to find somewhere to assemble it (not to mention, figure out how to assemble it-- though I am not bad at figuring out those sorts of things....) I've kind of tried to stay away from EBAY, though, ever since I bought a bunch of cards for a collectible card game I stopped playing shortly thereafter.... :?

I've never heard of CRAIGSLIST.

Do pedicabs make for good playa cruisers? I might not mind acting as a taxicab if/when I finally make it to BM! (I could use the exercise!)
:)

Dear Lord  When I first glanced at the title of this thread I thought it said, "Pedicamp" and then said to myself, hmmm a foot fteish camp. Right up my alley, Oh my.

Well, I must say a pedicab would be wonderful on the playa. It should make for the driver a smooth peddle and a fun social adventure.

Now can someone point me in the direction of the pedi camp please. Oh my! :o Ooooh.
You are watching too much TV.
