Ok so Ive been in contact with a few theme camps, and they are all being considered. If I do not join them this year, I sure will visit them and participate anyway!
Before I decide, I wanted to try to find some theme camps geared towards people who really love to dance and/or would like to be part of a performance. Im involved in the "house music" community in NYC... pretty darn good amateur street dancer and would love to be apart of a group and/or maybe even drum a little with a group... Ive been practicing and my boyfriend is a well known drummer who will be teaching me over the next few months :-)
I look forward to hearing from you !
By the way, I LOVE YOU ALL!!! THANKS FOR BEING SO WELCOMING AND HELPFUL!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
NEWBIE LOOKING FOR A DANCE CAMP!
NEWBIE LOOKING FOR A DANCE CAMP!
-unboxable, viciously curious, and learning how to fly!!
The world is your oyster if you like House. Basically 2/3rds of theme camps have a significant portion of people that go to the closest sound camp every night. That's just how we roll at BM.
You could also have much more organized audiences for dance performance if they are scheduled in center camp. Center camp is full of different dancers every year. (That's where they all go to organize and learn.) If you want to DJ or teach dance you can do that too; hook up with a sound camp.
One of the coolest ways to combine it all is to find someone with a huge vehicle and have dancers all up on the top of it. Also, if you can incorporate fire and a few dancers, you basically can seize any loudspeaker on the playa with little notice and put on impromptu dance presentations at will.
So I suggest: 1) Center Camp, 2) Sound Camps, 3) Huge Sound Oriented Mutant Vehicles... or all three!!
You could go to a studio and try to teach people a very specific disciple with scheduled lessons, (I do Swing and Latin myself) but generally the hodgepodge in center camp is going to hook you up with the most resources, talented individuals, and newbies willing to learn.

Center Camp has a spoken word stage, and a 'no-covers or DJs' live music stage...both of which are booked in advance.
The center area is aerials, contact improv, hoops/poi, monkey chant, etc....these are also pre-scheduled play/performance slots.
Since you're a street dancer, you'll be able to bust it out, wherever you are, with or without a posse... be spontaneous...
You don't need to live in a dance camp to dance 24/7 in BRC; the soundtrack is constant and ever-changing, with an underlying oontz oontz, bootsnpantsnbootsnpants...
