Bliss

Post by goathead » Thu Apr 28, 2011 2:19 pm

I see Bliss has found a new home.

Treasure Island, nice.

But at the same time feel a little sad.

The playa has seen so much Great Art.

but none of it ever calls it home.

probably better off, would need to be bullet proof anyway.

and who wants to deal with hippies year around.

Besides there are probably some BLM rules against Great Art in Gerlach.

Trish and I just discussed this for a few minutes and are glad to hear she has a new home. It does bring tear to my eye that she will probably never grace the playa again.

We will all see plenty of her in different transitions over the next few years.
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

And isn't it better she found a new home rather than to have been exploded on the playa as is the fate of some other pieces of beautiful but transient art?

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

what is Bliss? sounds like a good memory for you all.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Stunning, actually.

But she's coming back in a new incarnation "Truth and Beauty" this year.

Doesn't look good for "Truth and Beauty" with regards to their Kickstarter funding... A hundred grand was a bit much to ask for, IMHO.

Ya, I would agree. I think it would have been better to set up maybe four consecutive Kick-Starter projects with smaller goals to assure funding.

Unless they are planing on adding the BM grant to that amount and maybe the artist kicks in the balance. Though that doesn't make much sense either, as they have to pay an additional percentage on the money donated.

Will be interesting to see what happens here.
