If you don't immediately find some riders, make sure to post at the http://rideshare.burningman.com website as soon as they switch it over to the 2011 version. You will no doubt make someone's year. :)

There is a great thread here called:

Exp. RVers: Suggestions for House rules for renting an RV
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=34551

I can't tell whether you've been to the Burn in an RV before, but there was a lot of wonderful stuff in there.

You should post some details. Route? Cost? Expectation of riders? Etc.

be sure to go through the this old babe from top to bottom, front to back, and tire's that are not more than 4 yrs old.
This trip will surly have a few blow outs and maybe a overheat or two.
Been RVing for many year and taking mine for it's 13th year.
Shit happens and I maintain the hell out of it because I have my family in it. So, start now and don't over load the chassis.
edit: get AAA roadside for RV with the expanded towing.cheap I also use Progressive insurance roadside because sometime one can help faster than the other.

and may all your wildest dreams come true....... 8) 8) 8)

been known to talk out my ass from time to time, but not in this case, someone else will surly step in any ass/talk
I was Born OK the 1st Time....

Don't bring defaultia to Burning Man, take Burning Man to defaultia...... graidawg

Post by jonwells » Sat May 21, 2011 10:14 am

HELLO,

I live in Jacksonville Florida and am starting to look into ride share options. I was very happy to find your post. Last year i flew and it was awesome, but this year i would much rather go by car if that is possible. Send me an email jonwellsbfa at gmail dot com when you have the time. I'd be an easy going companion with money for gas.

If i don't hear from you I'll assume your booked. :-)

edited to bot-proof the email addy. You will have to do your own signature. And then again to enable the BBCode

Be sure to look over the link that Savannah provided a few posts up...very valuable info! When you take riders aboard your RV, guess what? You get to be the trip asshole trying to enforce all the little rules that make RV life tolerable on the playa.

It boils down to trade-offs...having the comfort of a home on wheels and cutting costs by sharing the space...and being the house mother! Trust me, even traveling with your best friend can turn into festering resentment in a very short amount of time. YMMV...
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

jonwells, once you get yourself situation you can ask a moderator (like AntiM) to remove your email address from your post so you wont receive spam from bots.

I did an edit to bot proof it. Can't touch his sig-line though, although I could delete it by fiddling with the check boxes. Enable email on eplaya? Sure, they can't see it initially, but once you reply, they have it forever. Use a throw away account, or the Private Message function, which is limited to you and the other person here.
