robot dance-athon idea

Post by pokiedot » Wed Jun 23, 2004 8:44 pm

hi yall. i have a vision: i need to see as many burners robot dancing on the playa as possible. here's my latest crezzy idea .. let me know if you and your camp would like to be involved:

okay.. so do you love robot dancing as much as we do? will your camp be playing music one could robot dance to on friday night? if so, join us in creating a 'robotic circuit' of dance camps.

my idea is to create a list of camps that will be playing robot-danceable music friday night, so that, if you (like me) have the dire need to robot dance all night long, you would have a directory of camps that will provide you with the appropriate music. i want to make it a participatory experience, and i'm throwing around the idea of asking each participating camp to give out special gifts for robotic circuit participants, or maybe even some kind of scavenger huntish game of some sort.. just another element to encourage people to continue on the circuit. but the gifting/game aspect of it wouldn't be required to be on the circuit, just an added bonus for the robot dancers.

my camp (moons of mongo) is hosting a 'space-dance music' night at our camp on friday night.. mostly dance songs with some kind of space reference (think major tom remixes and the like) but as far as what defines 'robot danceable' music is up for interpretation. as long as you can robot to it, it's robot danceable. club verboten will be participating; they will be hosting a kraftwerk night on friday (love the kraftwerk).

i'll be posting an event on the calendar, and i'll be compiling the actual list of camps, maybe even with a little map, which i will distribute to participating camps before they get on the playa. we can post the lists in our camps and refer people to it, or maybe we can come up with another way to get the word out.

let me know whatya think!
