Helllo World of Burners!
My name is Stace, i resied in Alaska. This year I made the final, "I AM GOING TO BURNING MAN(with ot without you)" war cry :]
So Here I am, planning a trip to the wonderous Burning Man, all by myself. Now I work in a Medical office, and I can only take 11 days, That gives me 1 days to get there and 2 days to get back. I have not bought my plane ticket( I was waiting on a certain "you" that had to bail out due to money issues) so basically I am free to fly anywhere within reason...
SO Long question short:
Is there any lovely burners, or group of burners who would like to meet up with me at some point in their journey and let me ride along, and then bring me back so I can fly home.
I can not really tell you what this would mean for me. I have wanted with all my heart to got to Burning Man for three years, but never did because I never knew anyone to go with. But this year it is about me, DID I MENTION this is my year of threes. YUSSS it is.
This trip will be my frist venture on my own,( a fear of mine since I was little) and the marking point for alot of changes in my life.
In January of 2012 I will move to Arizona to train as a Massage Therpasit. (also all by myself)

You might be able to fly into any city between yours and Reno (which is only two hours from the playa). That might make you fairly flexible in terms of which rideshares you can accept. Make sure your people know you need a little while to shop wherever you land. Bring your goggles on the plane, they've got to fit your face.
If worse comes to worse, you can go with Green Tortoise San Francisco, but the trip is a short one--only 5 days on the playa. (On the plus side, it falls well within your time limit . . . )

I don't know how soon their buses fill up, but the good thing about them is that they supply food, water, shade, and transportation, and the price is fair when you start to add up what those things would cost solo. (You still need to have a tent and other supplies, but you could get them in SF.)

Its important to know this, because I'm sure anyone you ask for a ride will ask "how much crap you got?".

Well, I plan on having on huge camping backpack, and then two 5 gallon water jugs. Collapsible so they will fit in my pack for the plane trips. I have a tent, tarps, sleeping stuff, hygienic supplies and enough food for myself, plus a camping burner. My camping bag is about the size of a 6 or 7 year old child. I also have random art supplies and gifts for people I met along the way.

It is a cut and paste. Handily enough, it's a helpful and polite one. He doesn't pretend it isn't. It's frequently tailored slightly, and simplified when it's not a virgin de-lurking. But everyone gets a welcome.

I think Savannah makes a good point. Why don't you start greeting people too, and make sure every time you say hello and welcome differently. But don't let me catch you copy/pasting the word welcome or hello out of any of your earlier threads.
We should probably leave it up to all the new folks! The 'old timers' can go to another thread and let all the newbies reinvent the wheel every 3rd day.

Sorry, didn't mean to be so mean...I appreciate the great tips from the experienced burners. I'm all over this board lately looking for good advice. Guess I just saw something that rubbed me the wrong way and spoke before I thought. Anyway, welcome Ladyface in Alaska. I lived in Anchorage in the early 80's and pretty much hung out at Chilcoot Charlies when it had just 2 rooms to it and we played ping pong outside. Hope your burn is a good one.
My one tip I'll share is carry plenty of wet wipes for the Porto johns. One to clean the seat off and one to clean you off. But don't toss em in the cans, keep them in a ziploc that you can store back at your camp. I LOVE them and don't go anywhere without them.

To put it into a little more perspective, yurtgirl, we've been having a bit of kerfluffle about whether or not the veterans on the board are helpful to the newbies, or if we're just tormenting them for fun. jk's opening post used to be a simple sentence welcoming people to the board. That he's taken care that there's good information right when some when they get on, and the sort of information that those of us tattered long-timers have repeated dozens, even hundreds, of times.

Have you found the ridehsare page ?
I posted a rideshare there. We are a Portland Oregon area crew and I have room for two. You can even camp with us. You would not need too pack your own water as I have plenty. We leave Portland Oregon on Saturday and then leave the playa on Saturday around noon before the burn.
