Completing my youth

Post by Mister Jellyfish Mister » Mon Jul 26, 2004 6:06 am

When I was a kid I was always doing that. It was frustrating to not have the knowledge, skill, or resources to manifest my project dreams. After a while, I got into the habbit of abondoning the project when the dream had lost it's sizzle and I was hitting brick walls, i.e. I tried to build an air hockey game and didn't realize the air had to come from somewhere. Nothing left to do but paint it pretty and move on.

Now that I have all the stuff to flesh out an idea, I am still addicted to the fun part... dreaming. I guess that's what I like about building a mutant vehicle, you just keep on mutating it as you work and there is nothing wrong with going off in a whole new direction at any time.

Building silly websites for no reason is the same way, the advantage there is that your abandoned work remains crucified in the town square for all to see.

I just finished moving my entire art studio and household, and realized how many unfinished projects I had collected- mostly aluminum figures, half-finished robots, dragons and North Pole Elf Robots.... I made a big bonfire of lumber scraps and had a Viking funeral for 'em, and they all melted down into a nifty paperweight!
