There's a club where 2000 people who are CEOs, politicians run around the redwoods for 17 days. Do you think burningman is a version of that for the masses?

I'm semi-Bohemian, and so take exception to your remark. Burning Man is no more like a McDonalds in New Delhi versus Akbar & Jeff's Tofu Hut or Luby's cafeteria.

I think the most interesting aspect of the comparison of BM to the Bohemian Club is that they both started in the SF area as dissonant movements to the dominent culture. Twain and I believe even Jack London (damned socialist) were Bohemians after all. The real question is--will BM be as privledged as the Bohemian club in 100years?

I think that Larry and Co. are hoping that Burning Man takes polar opposite route of the Bohemian club: instead of degenerating into an exclusive holiday for the ultra-priveleged, Burning Man spreads outward to be absorbed and enjoyed by as many people as possible, whether they ever physically reach the playa or not.
