Locations, distance, camp spots, messages, locate friends

We fly into Reno on Sunday night. Monday is spent getting our car, supplies, driving and arriving at BRC in the late afternoon.

Here are the questions:

Old One Eye is not a registered theme camp. Should we have a preference for 9:00-7:30 or 4:30-3:00? What is 7:30-4:30 like?

What is the distance from Sedina to the Espanade down a straight line?

As a first timer what should we look for when choosing a spot?

Is there some form of message board or place to list your location for others who are looking for you?

Is there some place to send a digital photo by email to make your lame friends jealous?

Coming in Monday evening you will have lots of choices. There is not any particular spot which is "better" or "closer in" than any other. BRC is big, it's 2100 feet from the Esplanade to the Man. By the end of the week there will be 30,000 people living in BRC. Bring a bicycle so you can easily explore the city.
Looking around when you get there will help you pick the right neighborhood. Do you want to be next to a camp with a huge sound system or a lively bar? Or maybe you will chose a mellow camping area - or one with a lot of interesting art. You are going to have to look around, but wherever you camp, there is going to be super interesting stuff miles away, and also next door.

Is there some form of message board or place to list your location for others who are looking for you?

At Center Camp, there is a board upon which you can leave notes for people looking for you. There is also an "internet", : you can get on the computer and put in key words about the people you seek, to see if they have left you a message.

When you get there, you can park your car, ride your bike to Center Camp, look for a note or a computer message, and go back for you car when you find your friends. If not, you'll find them anyway, but be prepared to set up your own camp just in case...

Man to Esplanade = 2,100 feet
Man to Sedna = 4,300 feet
4,300-2,100= 2,200

Sedna to Esplanade = 2,200 feet

There is no "quiet side" or any real rhyme or reason. You could find a nice quiet spot on Monday evening, only to wake up Thursday morning to find that 24-hour drumming camp has set up overnight nextdoor. Prepare for anything

if directions of the sun makes a difference to you, think of "10:30" as north (even though it's not a street).

So if you camp in the 4:30-2:30 area, you're generally facing the NW quadrant when facing the man. and the opposite when camped between 7:30 - 10:00 -- facing SE quadrant when facing the man.
