As hard tickets reach greedy hands, the number of scalped tickets offered for resale on certain auction sites and elsewhere is steadily climbing.

The taglines, lies and excuses I have seen on CL and elsewhere for scalping are pathetic...

- "I am an honest, loving, kind, person who fell into some hard times"
- "I donated $500 to my camp & now can't go, just trying to break even"
- "I am going but my partner can't, so I have one ticket to sell. (PLEASE stay home yourself)
- "Fellow Burners, It is still possible to go to this year's Burn" ( YOU are not MY fellow burner)
- " Had two, my dog ate one along with my homework, and Fido now needs an operation" (completely credible)

To hear tag lines like "One magical ticket to BM" absolutely turns my stomach ... !

What lame excuses you have heard (add your own) !?

(Likely scenario is she doesn't trust him 'cause he got the tickets, wants to charge her double....)

Someone named Pat (from BM, apparently) is contacting those offering to sell their tickets for above price, then busting them - once she has the tickets' serial number. Busting them, meaning, cancelling the tickets in the BM computer. BM can do this!

Note: BM is the biggest scalper out there - having raised prices $100 from last year while manufacturing a ticket-shortage to keep folks from screaming about the increase (coincidentally, the same year BM restructured to a for-profit business.)

My point: this is not an anti-scalper posting. It's just a warning to everyone: BM's fu**ing-over those on CL trying to recover even their shipping fees, and those fu**ed-over ticket owners are still selling the (voided) tickets... Can you blame them?

BM gets rich... and the BM experience continues to deteriorate. It was good while it lasted...

I am afraid this is accurate information. I have contacted and verified it with Senator Joseph R. McCarthy's office
and also with the same people who brought you Area 51.

Ummm... Can I blame people for scalping Burning Man tickets, getting their tickets revoked by this mysterious Pat from BM, then turning around and selling the tickets they now know to be invalid to unsuspecting CL buyers?

I guess not.

PS the whole posting seems like some kind of paranoid fantasy. Fun read though.

Imagine how happy that would make you to have quality care and how happy that doctor will be when he finally gets on the Playa. Imagine that.

Imagine thousands and thousands and thousands of other instances. Then, ask yourself if you really know and understand the motivations behind someone selling a ticket to Burning Man. Do you really know? If they are selling for the right reasons, good things will happen to the person who needs the money, and blessings will be on the person who could afford to pay. If they are selling for the wrong reasons, Karma always takes care of Karma. Imagine that.

I've been following the ticket issues this year ever since a lot of people I know did not get tickets in the lottery and were too late to get into step. I think this merrits a best of the bull...

Hello! I have two tickets to this year's Burning Man that I would like to sell. If you've been on top of things,you know this year's theme: Fertility 2.0.

Well,I guess my body took this as a sign,because my fiance and I just found out I'm pregnant!!!!!!

I was told when I was 15 that,due to an ovarian cyst and a unique case of appendicitis,the chances for me to conceive were slim to none. Look at me now though! It's still early in my pregnancy,and I'm not due until sometime in March,but we figure now isn't the time to be spending a whole lot of money. This wasn't exactly planned (but that doesn't mean we're not extremely happy!!!),so we really do not have a lot of money set aside for doctor's visits and baby items. If you are reading this and want to help out a new mommy-to-be, we would be forever grateful!!!!!

My new favorite, posted yesterday in the San Francisco area Craigslist:

i have one hard copy ticket with reciept for this years burn, circumstances have changed and I am not going to make it back this year, I am asking 500 because I got the ticket through a theme camp (through the direct distribution to camps) and I had to pay my camp fees of $150 to qualify for the ticket, these fees are non refundable so I am out $410 plus $150 for a total of $560 so even at $500 I am losing some money. email if you are interested, would prefer to handle this in person in san francisco, mission district..

And, I'll add, there are plenty of face value tickets available right now; I just got a pair -- good luck if you're still looking.
