Share short stories for my project, please?
Hello fellow burners and friends!
My sister and I are working on some ideas for our next burning man project, and we need your help. (Specifically, we'd like your input/answers to a few short questions below.)
But first, picture yourself standing on the playa at Burning Man, with the dust and the sun and the splendor, talking to a new friend you’ve just met...
1) You discover this person is a Burning Man virgin. What would you recommend that they do or experience during their first year on the playa?
2) You discover that they’ve been to Burning man before. What would you recommend that they do to expand their experiences at Burning Man?
3) What do you think are the top “must-do” or “must-see” experiences at Burning Man?
4) What are your most memorable experiences from your time at Burning Man?
There are no right or wrong answers, and any input at all is appreciated. Please be as creative and open as you want.
Thank you so much for your assistance!

- You discover this person is a Burning Man virgin. What would you recommend that they do or experience during their first year on the playa?
- Whatever comes to mind or piques your interest. Not a hard thing to figure out while there.
Oh, and I'd tell them to not seek out any recommends, because they'll just ruin the experience. In that regard, this survey is very telling.
- Whatever comes to mind or piques your interest. Not a hard thing to figure out while there.
- You discover that they’ve been to Burning man before. What would you recommend that they do to expand their experiences at Burning Man?
- I'd probably tell them about that cool thing I saw the day before. I'd also tell them to stop wasting their time asking about what "experiences" I'd suggest.
- What do you think are the top “must-do” or “must-see” experiences at Burning Man?
- The question is misconceived: the experiences are never the same day-in-day-out, let alone year-to-year. The "experiences" that are similar are not "must see".
- What are your most memorable experiences from your time at Burning Man?
- Experiences you'll never have. So go out and have your own.

Shambala gave you a good suggestion.PinkCoder wrote:Hello fellow burners and friends!

What format will this project take? Is it a book? An article? A college paper? Physical art? If physical art, will it be shown on the playa? Burned afterward? Displayed in the default world? Exhibited on a website? I ask, because ePlayans are historically cautious with their participation in mystery projects/questionnaires for a multitude of reasons, although who knows--you could luck out.
You might also find people to be more open with you on the actual playa--especially if you supply drinks, crayons and butcher paper.

Re: Share short stories for my project, please?
Okay, so yes I am new around here and wasn't sure how wordy to be, so I tried to simplify my request to the bare minimum.
But since you asked....
A little about myself:
I have attended Burning Man 5 times since 2007. I live in the mid-west and come from a very conservative, traditional family. Burning Man restores my faith and hope in humanity as well as renew my optimism toward life in general. I consider myself somewhat of an extrovert when I'm amongst my mid-western neighbors, but when I attend Burning Man I feel like a shy little wallflower.
A little about this 'project':
First, the term project may not be entirely accurate because that may be the reserved word for something supported by the organization and shared on the deep playa at the event. What I am actually referring to is an attempt to make our camp more interactive and participatory for passers-by.
Even though I guess I'm sort of a veteran now, I know there is a lot to Burning Man I haven't experienced yet. Almost each year I've attended, I've brought a virgin with me and I continually look for ways to guide them towards a maximal experience, as well as try to help myself grow and grok more Burning Man in general.
Thus, my sister and I wanted to come up with a little game of suggestions and/or stories that would encourage people to do something new or stretch their boundaries. And although we have quite a few ideas ourselves, the concept would not be complete without input from other Burners.
And so, we're now back to my little 'questionairre'. I don't envision this to be any definitive guide or anything so lofty. As I said, it's supposed to be a game -- something fun that helps spark your imagination to try something new, or do something old in a new way.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If nothing else, the responses so far show me once again that my preconceptions about what Burning Man is or should be are always off the mark. I'm glad that I can continue to learn new things about this community.

You will find that the Eplaya is not exactly like any experience you had on the playa. It's a quirky bunch. Ok, that parts the same, but eplaya is way snarkier than MOST of the playa.
