Greetings from Miami! This is the 3rd year me and my friends have been going to Burning Man, and this year we've decided we really wanted to make it special by giving back to BRC. We've decided to move to San Fran in June to build a MV for BM. Being that we are coming from Florida, we don't have any connections on welding services. Does anyone have any suggestions on who we can contact? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Connect with the San Francisco regional group (both the mailing list and the FB group), there are a number of great workspaces in the bay area. There's a strong maker community out here, and lots of classes so you could fairly easily learn to do it yourself. Good luck

Come to Reno instead, and hook up with guys like Dog and Puma. They are serious welders, and your staging is much easier and cheaper. These guys did all the welding for the Temple in 2011, much of it structural. Plus, Reno in summer is pretty damn nice.
The handbasket to hell is leaving. Hop in world!

Giving this a nudge over to the Transportation board, since the Preparation forum is a better fit for general questions and problem solving. The MV board is more for announcing (and updating on progress) for fully formed projects.
Uncle Sticky's got a fair point. If the focus of the trip is to build the MV, consider doing it in Reno. Almost all your costs will be lower, and you'll save a bunch of fuel costs. You can always take a few days off and head west for some R&R/sightseeing if you want. When Otto built his office park at last year's event he moved from SF to Reno for the summer. He estimated it saved him more than $10K on the project.
