Theme camp yay/nay response timeframe?

Post by tffy » Fri May 10, 2013 3:55 pm

Hey you guys. Just curious if there's any info out there - having submitted a theme camp application this year... when should we expect to hear back from BMorg about what they have chosen to do to us? :)

Thanks!

Yes, thanks! This helps us plan just how much we want to bite off before we get the big news :)

Whether you receive placement or not should have little effect on your enthusiasm or plans. There are a great many camps who do kick ass stuff and fly under the placement radar. Just makes it a bit more challenging to create a space that draws people in off the major paths. Good luck!
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

Right on! Placement just means a solid address. If you can't get official placement you still shoot for an area and do your best from there. For instance if you don't get placed you can say you'll be "near 8 and E". Then try to make sure you have someone there for the land grab (close to the front of the line as BMan opens to the public) to claim the land you need as close to your goal space as possible.

Then (here's the kicker), you need to do two more things and you're golden. One, put a sign at the intersection you mentioned saying where you actually ended up. Make it big and make it clear. Two, go to Info Camp (part of center camp), register your camp name and location and then add a sign to the info board there. When folks show up, they'll find you

Those are two things you may want to consider doing anyways. Even with placed camps, the address assigned is approximate, and represents the nearest intersection. So you could be up to a half a block away from the address. If you're putting your address out there with lots of people and want to make sure they find you, a sign for the nearest/target corner and entering your details into the terminal at playa info are the best bet.
