Virgin Burner from Western, MA

Post by fishingfishing » Mon Jul 15, 2013 9:13 am

Hi peoples, my name is Tony. I am a 30 yr. old former Marine-cancer survivor and am currently in Major in Environmental Science, specializing in Aquaculture, and aquaponics. I will be making the trip by myself this year and don't know anyone yet. I was also told by a couple of people I have talked with (Sarah from the Ct burners and Matt O from Boston-I believe) I should mention the fact I am bringing a couple of friends ashes with me to the temple. It's more of a pilgrimage for me but, a trip I have wanted to take since 2001. Due to the Military and hospitals and schooling, I haven't had time. This year I have dropped somethings and have made time, and it's about time.
I am also trying to get into the Automatic Subconscious camp.
If anyone knows of how to get in or people who are in, please let me know.
I am not driving as well, and am still trying to finalize my travel plans and plans to get my stuff and myself there as well, and if I could get into a camp that would make my meals and more importantly, my "water situation" a lot easier on myself.
I'd rather help some new brothers and sisters out with their travel and mine, then to pay for a train, bus, or plane ticket.
If anyone knows of carpooling from Massachusetts or the general area, please let me know.
:D I can help with Gas, meals, or lodging.
Thank you for the time and consideration,
Tony~

Hi Tony! :D

Congratulations on your survival and this finally being your year. I don't know if anyone from Automatic Subconscious is on ePlaya, but they are Boston-based and will be there this year. I googled Automatic Subconscious Boston and got this:

http://www.automaticsubconscious.com/

They seem like the kind of camp you're looking for (various kinds of support, including meals & water--but they also ask you to do a few kitchen shifts, and no doubt there are camp dues). Read their FAQ and contact them! If you haven't read the 2013 Survival Guide (linked in my sig) read it twice before they contact you back. Folks can tell whether a new person has read it by the kinds of questions they have.

Your friends need not have advised you so strongly to mention transporting your friends' ashes. (I can tell you're not quite comfortable bringing it up yourself, or you wouldn't have invoked them.) No doubt your recent losses are strong motivators to 1) live your life, and 2) get out to the Temple, but you don't need to have a solemn mission or sadness in your life to be accepted at the Burn or on ePlaya (which are two very, very different places, mind you). We occasionally hear from people who pair the sad details of life very closely with requests for things (usually tickets) and it can backfire.

Welcome. I knew no one my first Burn. Now I know hundreds. I'm still trying to decide which is better.

Hi all!
Just wanted to follow up. Tony has indeed found us.
Likely, in part because of your help Savannah. Thanks!

There's a few of us that have eplaya accounts, but none of us check regularly (obviously).
