I'm a 38 year-old woman who grew up on the East Coast and just moved to Santa Monica, CA a year ago. I've been wanting to burn for ages now, and it looks like this is the year! I spontaneously bought a face-value ticket 4 days ago and since then have been doing non-stop research (mostly on eplaya) about how to get prepared. Earlier today I went to a regional event that was all about newbie orientation. When I got home, I hooked up with the exact kind of ride I've been looking for to and from the burn through the eplaya rideshare board. Things have really been working out so far in my planning, seemingly as if by magic.
