Two faeries in love need ride to (and/or from) the playa

My boyfriend (Cupcake) and I (Trouble) are headed back into the dust to celebrate and give back to the magical city that brought us together one year ago. He's a 4th time burner and this will be my second, but since I'm coming from the east coast--and Cupcake all the way from London--we're having a hard time finding a portal from San Francisco to the playa (8/25 or 8/26) and back to San Francisco after strike (on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th).

Our food and water are all being taken care of by our campmates at Comfort and Joy (7:30 and E) so we only have our camping supplies and costumes (3 bags). An ideal situation would also have room for our two bikes, but the most important thing is finding a fun cool group to drive with.

We are both licensed drivers and great company. Cupcake is a performer and student (just finishing his masters in queer theory and performance) and I'm an aspiring writer and scholar (just finished an MDiv in queer spirituality) We're both funny, smart, considerate, spiritual, and creative types, good drivers/navigators, and are glad to kick in on gas/snacks.

And if driving back is a possibility too and you want to go someplace gorgeous afterward and relax for a few days, or take your time to get to or back from the Bay in general, we're up for anything and are in no particular rush.

PS--Yes, we've already got a post on the rideshare board and CL and have put the word out with our campmates, but nothing has turned up yet. Last year we went with some people in an RV which worked for everyone since RVs have enough space to give rides to people who won't be staying in them and tend to need help with gas money. If there are any enterprising RV drivers who haven't started to find extra passengers yet, please drop us a line!

Consider renting a car.

Thanks for the suggestion Dougly! Judging from the few dozen posts from burners struggling to locate and insure rental cars this close to the burn--let alone the fact that renting would be a significant (and quite difficult) financial barrier for us to overcome--we're going to keep working on finding someone in our community that has complimentary needs to ours. Here's hoping that such a person is hanging out here on ePlaya! xx

My schedule is in flux, but at the moment it looks like I'll be heading out from Oakland on Sunday to get there sometime after opening - say after 7 or so. I'm driving a truck with a camper - a gas guzzling beast I got this summer; least green vehicle I've ever had!
