110v to 12v Adapter... ?

Post by Meat Hunter » Sat Feb 22, 2014 8:11 am

FIFJAM and Others,

I already have a Honda 2000i generator that I use on the farm and which I intend to use to charge my trike battery which requires a 110v power supply.

I would prefer to use your bucket cooler design to cool my 14' dome (and not have to purchase a battery) instead of purchasing a small 110v small portable air conditioner.

Question:
Is there a 12v adapter that I can plug into the 110v outlet on the generator that will convert the power to 12 v? The generator has a 12 v outlet. But, the instructions advise to use the 12v outlet only to charge a battery.

I'd be surprised if you haven't accumulated ANY of these sorts of things. Ac to DC wall wart.
Read the back of one, find one that says output 12V and then how many amps... match it to your fan correctly.

Thank you.

Great idea.

I will see what can do about matching one of my existing 12v adapters to the requirements of the fan.

I think you'll be best off with a battery to run the bucket cooler and the gennie to charge the battery. You're not going to want to run the gennie the whole time just to spin a small pump and fan.., but burn as you wish.

Even a small motorcycle battery will work if you're able to recharge. 8)

Jackass,

I am convinced. The battery is the simplest and most efficient way to go.

If by chance I need to charge the cooler battery, I can always use the 12v outlet on the generator at the same time that I am charging my trike battery.

Thank you.

I use jumper cables to the truck if I need a charge.

1 hour idling = 6 hours on a charger!!! 8)
